Grandma Gonthier

Dear Kacie

We have had such an exciting few weeks and this next week gets even more exciting!

Grandma Tracey came to visit!!!!!

She loves you soooo much and is having a terrible time being away from you. It has been 8 months since she last held you and in baby time, that might as well be 20 years!

She was supposed to arrive Tuesday morning but (as you will come to learn) was a few minutes -literally - late for her flight and had to wait until that night to fly in.

So we waited aaallllll day for her… this is you standing at the door waiting for her to arrive! (or maybe you were waiting for dad to come home)

And this is you getting in to trouble while waiting for her to arrive...

We made you stay awake until 10:00 at night so Grandma would get to see you. You were very skeptical of her at first. You wouldn't let her touch you, you would yank your hand away like 'aahh! don't touch me!' But by the end of the week you loved to let her hold you!

Some of the following pictures might be out of order so sorry for the slight repetition you may get in this post…

We of course went shopping! For you… We did not by these sunglasses but it was fun to try them on force them on you!

We went out to Salt Lake and went to The Lion House for lunch. It was amazing, as always.

Then we went to Temple Square and walked around. You had a blast exploring and being free!

We stopped by the Disney Store, obviously. You love Minnie Mouse!

This was in the morning before we left on our adventure...

And here we are back at Temple Square!

On Thursday I had to get some things done for my Relief Society Activity. One of those things was to make a cake!

We made your hair curly that day.

Grandma was obsessed with it! And how could you blame her?

After bath time that night Grandma got to read you some stories.

And you even let Uncle Trev help a little!

On Friday, Daddy got to take off work and so we went to the Aquarium! It was really fun to watch you, interested in the fish swimming!

Watching the Otters. And by otters I mean the other kids that were actually watching the otters!

NEMO!!!

Toucan!

We had a great time, especially (as always) having dad with us!

That night we went out to dinner at The Smoking Apple. Gosh that place is delicious!

Everyone had a great time passing you around the table!

Just riding in style!

The last day that grandma was there we went to look at the new Provo Temple. Aunt Mallory decided to run this 5K… but not really.

Saying goodbye!

We had such a fun time with Grandma Tracey and I know she enjoyed every second of it!

We love you!
Mom and Dad

Grandma wrote this little note to you about her visit:

Dear Kacie,
I was able to come visit and stay with you when you were 9 months old in your house in Orem, Utah.  The last time I saw you, you were only 7 days old.  I missed you soooo much, so I planned a trip to visit you all by myself.  I really wanted to bring Aunt Kassidi, Uncle Devin and Grandpa, but we just couldn’t do it.  I was realllly glad that I got to come and spend time with you all by myself, though!!  Your mommy takes such good care of you!!  I’ll always cherish this time I had with you. You were very nervous of meeting me at the airport when I came in-as I expected, but warmed up to me by the next day and a little more each day. Mommy had all kinds of things planned for us that week. She took us to SLC for the day and we got to go to temple square and see the Christus statue.  You walked around the benches letting everyone see how dang cute you are while mommy and I enjoyed the spirit. We took pictures of me, you and Mommy on the grounds there. Your mommy found this great little shopping plaza where we had a ball spending lots of Grandpa’s money buying you clothes and trying sunglasses and hats on you!   I got to rock you to sleep for a nap-you never sleep during the day for Mom!!  We got to cuddle in your room with the lights out in your mama’s rocking chair and a blanket.  I loved it! I sang you the lullaby songs I sang your daddy. I read you stories, played on the floor with you and your toys, the hangers, and watched and watched and watched you.  I love looking at you!!  You’re such a beautiful, sweet granddaughter!! You have the sweetest temperament. I was on break from nursing school and had to bring all my homework with me. While I read my books, you played and crawled around me.  I loved it! I also was able to give you a bath-you LOVE the water!!!  (I’m so glad!!) and I also feed you baby food a few times. You’re a little snacker-you love to eat your “Canine Crunchies”, as Daddy calls them.  These are your little cereal-type finger foods you like to pick up with your pincher grasp and eat. Your developing ahead of schedule-you smartie! I even got to babysit you for 2 whole hours all by myself! We played and walked around the house and got to know each other.  You were just beginning to walk-at 9 months old-so you wanted me to hold your hands and let you direct me all over the apartment.  It was fun for both of us.  I like it when you crawl around and then climb up onto things, especially me! Daddy, Mommy, you and I went to a new aquarium that was built not too far from your house. We got to go together and took lots of pictures of you and the marine animals.  You like your stroller and getting out to see things and people.  On my last day, we went to Provo to see the building site for the new temple. Uncle Trevor and Aunt Mallory came with us and we strolled along with you, enjoying you and just being together.  I hope you’ll remember me when I come in July.  We’re coming again with Devin, Grandpa and Kassidi to see you again.  We’ll try to see Mommy and Daddy for a bit while we’re there as well. ;) You’ll be 1 year old by then and RUNNING everywhere, I’m sure! I love you, Kacie.  You’re my first little grandchild and so sweet and special to me and Grandpa.  We wish we could see you all the time! Your mommy and daddy are really good about showing us you at everyday life events on Skype (video-chatting…..or whatever it’s called!) at least once a week.  We’ve got to see you do all kinds of day by day things that help us feel a part of your life. You remind me of Aunt Kassidi with your beautiful eyes  and hair of curls and your mommy with your adorable little nose and your daddy with your dark hair and eyebrows AND the way you do all these developmental abilities EARLY! You’re a darling, inquisitive little thing-just like your daddy was!  I love it!! Never a dull moment with you around-THANK GOODNESS! Thanks for letting me kiss your whole face! You’re the best!
I love you!!!

Love, Grandma Gonthier

I'm going to throw this in here a little late. I had this post saved and forgot to publish it! He wrote it before you were born but it's beautiful! This is from your Grandpa Gonthier:
Dear Kacie,
This is your Grandpa Gonthier and I thought I would take a minute to share with you a few things that I have been thinking lately. First of all, you have some really amazing parents. They come from a very loving lineage. You have been chosen to help them grow as parents, friends, lovers. You will find that they will make mistakes so be forgiving. You will see them argue so be patient. You will see them cry so be of good cheer. You will see them hold hands so grab a hand too. You will see them kiss so ask to be kissed. You will see them sleep so lie down with them. You will see them pray so pray for them. You will see them talk together so talk with them. You will see them listen to each other so listen to them. You will see them go to the Temple because God loves them and they love God; you will want to go to the Temple. Kacie I can't wait to meet you, you are amazing.

Love,

Grandpa G.
