Dear Kacie,
During winter break, your dad was home a lot more than he usually is. (yay for no school!!)
But I realized that when he went back to school and work, I was going to be very sad and the days were going to be pretty long. I've been very tired with this pregnancy (as if you didn't know that by now) and I started to miss my parents! So I started looking for inexpensive plane tickets and found one!
So we started getting really excited about our 5 day trip. I was trying to make sure that I had easy access to your entertainment. So I bought you an adorable lady bug back pack. It was delivered a few days before we left so we decided to 'break it in' and make sure you knew how it worked. Here you are showing it off!
But we had to make sure we spent lots of time with daddy before we left since we were going to be away from him for a week!
Uncle Jerm introduced us to Firehouse Subs and they are delicious and they give you a free hat!
Then we went to the Disney Store, because it never gets old watching you run up to the Minnie Mouse dolls, grabbing one off and hugging it and carrying them around the store!
Dad is taking a class called "Theories of Personality" and you looove that book! When you see it, you grab it, sit down, and read it. You're going to be well versed on the topic - more so than dad - because you have read it like 3 times!
I wanted to take a picture of you sitting on my face. When I went to take the picture, you slid off and began squeezing my face instead!
Sometimes we go out and pick up trash as a family. As you can see, dad was working hard in the background while we played on the swing. You liked it, but I really didn't push you very high at all.
Dad is so nice, he's the best big brother around! He fixed his sisters car window!
I looked up online a lot of different ideas on flying with a toddler. My favorite idea was to give you a sucker to help with your ears popping but also, you LOVE suckers, so I knew you would sit on my lap while you ate it. It was perfect. A bit messy, but I just held a wipe in my hand and wiped every time you got something sticky somewhere.
I also had dad download some of our DVD's onto my iPad. We got some awesome headphones for you to use. Here you are, trying them out for the first time.
I wouldn't say that you loved them, and on the plane you only wore them for a few seconds at a time but you enjoyed watching the movie without the sound too so it was all good.
You were just so cute trying everything out!
Our plane left Monday so Sunday night we packed. It's ridiculous that we are charged for our bags. I mean, at least give me one bag for free!
Anyway, I managed to get all of both of our things into one suitcase, with room to spare because I knew I was going to be bringing things home. I was really impressed with myself!
You had fun helping me get everything in the suitcase climbing on the suitcase after I packed it.
but when we moved it from the wall (away from my jewelry) you weren't very happy with us!
Your dad is just the best for letting us go away for 5 days without him! I felt bad leaving him alone so we wrote him a poem and left him with a gift for each day!
We gave him a book, some candy, some paper hugs and other things that I can't remember...
In this picture, you can tell that I had just fed you! your little belly is sticking out so far, you look just as pregnant as I do!
I had asked you to go get your socks and shoes. You brought them to me and then when I tried putting them on, you pulled them (and my shoe that I was trying to put on) away and said "Mine!!" I tried explaining that we needed to get ready to go so we didn't miss our plane and you didn't care. This little trick of yours, saying 'mine' is not as cute as I think it is.
Well, we got to the airport and you loved the moving sidewalks!
And your backpack!
I so wish that daddy was going with us… it was so hard to leave him!! You guys are just great friends and it doesn't hurt that he's not pregnant!
Here we are on the plane, waiting to take off, trying not to cry because we miss daddy already!
Thanks for being so cute for us… it makes everything better!
Love,
mom and dad
