Dear Kacie,
Our old couch had a big ottoman with it and it was kind of obnoxious. It just took up too much room and we never really used it for a foot rest. Our new couch is so big a roomy that if we want to spread out and be lazy, there is enough room to do that without an ottoman… except for when I am pregnant. But we still didn't want or need a huge ottoman, so we found this little ottoman at Target.
It is great for when I need to put my feet up… but it is also a storage ottoman, so we put some toys in it and you love it.
You climb in it and on it and around it!
One time you climbed in and bent forward and 'hid' from us. So we pretended that we couldn't find you and then you would pop up and say 'there it is!'
It really has not snowed enough that you've had to use your hat and gloves, but when we are at home, you often have us put them on you.
We made a calzone one night for dinner and you just love to help us with everything, so we let you put some cheese on. You grabbed huge handfuls and threw them on the calzone. It was so cute!
Your Uncle Jerm's birthday was last week so to celebrate we had you color him a picture while our calzone cooked.
So, this was the first time I had made a calzone. When I make pizza I always cook the crust before topping it. Apparently you can't do that with calzone's or else the dough will not stretch over the toppings. So our calzone turned out looking like a bug. But it was a scrumptious bug!
About a month and a half ago, your dad and I started to notice that the water wasn't staying as warm. as it used to but we thought it might be because it is cold so we were just thinking it wasn't as warm… Turns out our water heater was just 20 years old and needed to be replace…
If only we had called the plumber sooner! We wouldn't have had to shower in cold(ish) water for so long and your baths would have been much more pleasant.
You were really intrigued with everything they were doing. And the big empty box was fun too!
You had diarrhea for about a month. We really thought you were just teething because you had no fever, and didn't act sick at all. But after a few weeks, we started to lose our minds because you were leaking everywhere and I didn't even see any teeth coming in!
Dad said one night that the only thing other than teething he could think of was that you started drinking more apple juice about the same time. I didn't think that would do anything because it's apple juice and kids drink that all the time!
I finally took you to the doctor, with low hopes that they would fix anything since nothing else seemed to be wrong. But one of the first things he said was that apple juice can cause diarrhea.
Can I just say that I was incredibly relieved! And now that you haven't had it to drink since then, you've been fine. I called dad and told him he won the 'smarter parent than me' award and that I should have listened to him!
Good news is, you had a blast running around the office naked!
March 3rd was national pancake day so we of course went to IHOP for our free pancakes! (don't worry, we always donate to the hospital too). While we were there, you started covering your ears. You would cover them and then uncover them like you were shutting out the sound around us. You've done it a few times since and it's cute!
Then that night, you kept bringing dad books to read and you climbed right on top of him and made him read… It's a good thing he has the book memorized cause he couldn't really see it!
We are so glad that you are feeling better and that all of us are!
Thanks for being a perfect kid for us!
Love,
Dad and Mom
