Pica, Movement and 32 Weeks!

Dear Kalvin,

This week you are 31 weeks old!!

We sure are getting anxious about your arrival. A few nights ago I put my hand at the top of my tummy and you pushed your tiny foot up and when I pushed on it, I could fee you retract it. I was sooo excited that you 'responded' to me. You do that a lot now. Im sure it's mostly because you're running out of room! But I still love that you're really alive in there.

And for comparison, here I am pregnant at 31 weeks with Kacie:

One of the weirdest things that happens when I am pregnant is getting Pica. I don't know if it really is technically Pica but it must be similar… Even with your sister, in my 3rd trimester the smell of wet rock smells so good that I literally want to eat it. With Kacie it started one day when I was watering flowers and the water splashed on the bricks outside our apartment. With you it started one day when I was paying on our tenants out the window and I could smell the blinds. They smell like I need to eat them. The worst was just the other day when it snowed a little and I went to the grocery store. I was walking through the parking lot and I wanted to get down and lick the road!

Something that I forgot about with being pregnant is baby hiccups! You get those a lot and its weird how annoying they can be. They are really subtle and don't hurt me but they are consistent and repetitive so they are just a bit bothersome.

(I wrote that ^^ last week)

Now you are 32 weeks old!

You kick my ribs. You move a bunch! One morning, you were awake and dancing so I was awake and trying to sleep. You were moving so much that I grabbed dads hand and put it on my bely because he doesn't get to feel you move often. I figured you would stop moving like you usually do but you didn't! Daddy got to feel you move for about 15 minutes! You just wouldn't stop! It was a real treat for dad. He LOVED feeling you alive in there. He was really proud of his son!

And then dad had to go to work… and you continued to move for another hour!

My walk has started to become a waddle… so that is cool!

Your next appointment is on Tuesday and dad and I are anxious for it. Last appointment they told us you are measuring above average so we want to know if they continue to think that. Also, the appointments are going to be every two weeks from now on! That means we are getting very close!

At our first appointment they told us I was due April 17th, not the 8th, like we thought. I am no doctor and I could for sure be wrong, but your dad and I never have felt like the 17th was your due date. It has felt like you will be here earlier. I don't know what that means, but I hope it means you will be here in like 6 weeks instead of 8. And your father is ready to hold you and say "My Son."

I am excited for that to… when I can say "Here is your son Kyle. Take him" Cause right now, you won't let anyone else hold you!

Kacie knows that there is a baby inside of me. She points to all of our bellies and says "baby"

Now, whether or not she knows you're on your way is a different story. Cause once you're here all the time, I'm not sure she will know what to do!

Well kiddo, keep growing and sleeping. I have a feeling you will be here before we know what hit us!

We love you!!

Love,

Daddy and Mommy

Time Out!

Dear Kacie,

You can be a real pill! But can't we all?

I hear so many things about this age being hard. It sucks because you understand a lot! And you're so close to being able to do a lot on your own. But you're just not quite there yet and you can't talk so you just scream instead.

Anyway, you've been trying to use time out occasionally when you repetitively do things you know you're not supposed to…

It's not working.

You love time out.

Sometimes, you even put yourself in timeout! This picture is of dad trying to tell you not to climb on the computer desk. He pointed to his eyes and said "look at me when I'm talking" and I guess you thought he was pointing to his nose because you reached forward, poked his nose and said 'beep!'

So round two of my sugar cookie decorating went really well! I was very impressed with how they turned out.

I had planned on making your uncle Colin a cookie earlier but ended up eating it so this time around, I made sure to make one for him and take it to him right away! He was at work so we took one to the girl that also works at the time he is.

I obviously had to make one for each of us…

And then I just decorated the others for fun!

I got this pillow years and years ago, probably for Christmas, but just pulled it out recently. I was going to give it away but you love it!

You also love taking off your shirt...

And then when you tried to put it back on, this was as far as you got...

And then you walked around with it on your head for a few minutes

Here you are again, trying to undress yourself!

Every Monday we have a Skype date with Aunt Ang. This week, you took the iPad, put it on your chair and then sat next to her! It was cute and funny!

Your hair is getting long but because you are always running and rolling around it tends to come out of ponytails really easily. So I've started putting it in several ponytails and it is so adorable!

There is a house in our neighborhood that has two statues out front…they seem to be made of car mufflers or exhaust pipes…

Several weeks ago I had the idea to make you this bottle thing that your grandma Tracey uses for her primary class. I just filled it with a bunch of beads and gems and pom pom so you could shake it and look at it… Well it turns out that you enjoy putting the pieces in the bottle more than playing with the actual bottle.

You really don't like riding in carts anymore… We need you to stop growing up mentally so fast because you think you are so old but you're still a little baby and we can't just have a kid running around everywhere!

This time, you decided to ride on the back of the cart. If you would always ride there it wouldn't be so bad! But usually you want to walk on your own.

Going to the store is always an 'adventure' because you just want to run around, explore and play! Dad gets a good work out from chasing you up and down the isles!

We love you!

Bleeding lip, Laundry Detergent and The Swiffer!

Dear Kacie,

You really are growing so fast and it's fun!

This has been an increasingly familiar way to come in and get you from your naps!

Sometimes you just lay down...

We had macaroni for lunch one day. after I drain the noodles I put it in this little bowl to mix the cheese in. Then I just put some on your plate and I eat out of this bowl. Well this particular day you apparently needed to eat out of the bowl with me and you needed two forks. You swiped mine and started trying to eat with them both!

One day you were climbing on the chairs because unless I just put them on top of the table, you never stop climbing on them. Anyway, you fell and hit your lip! Your little tooth cut it open and you were bleeding!

At first I thought you had ketchup on your shirt. Then I remembered that I hadn't gotten the ketchup out yet and then I freaked out a little! I almost called dad and made him come home but then I realized I just needed to calm down for a second and asses the actual damage!

Turns out it wasn't too bad, and you calmed down within a few minutes and went straight to eating your corn dog like nothing happened. Kids are resilient!

(I also love this picture because look at your beautiful eyes!!)

And here you are minutes after falling, eating my corn dog that you stole off my plate.

I was trying to get my 30 week prego photo and when you saw me pull out the camera you just started saying 'cheese! cheese' so I had to get one of you too and it is soooo cute!

Several months ago I made some homemade laundry detergent with my cousins. I ran out a few months ago but didn't get around to making it until a few weeks ago. It's really easy and it smells soooo good!

You and daddy helped me. You pretty much played with the Zote Soap the whole time but you did get to help me stir a little. You just love helping us with everything!

Here is a picture of my heart garland. It seriously turned out so much better than I had imagined it would and all it is is paper hearts I cut out!

Anyway, back to you helping…

We took a few of the extensions out of our swiffer to make it 'Kacie size'

And even though it doesn't totally clean the floor, it actually does do a little!

Plus, you love to swiffer!!

We really appreciate your willingness to help us with chores! It doesn't always make chores faster or easier but we love that you want to help and we hope we can continue to teach you to do so!

Love,

Dad and Mom

Rejection, The Park and Blue Ice Cream!

Dear Kacie,

It's such a bad idea for mommy to be pregnant during valentines day! seriously, sugar cookies are my weakness!

I was decorating some cookies for our girl cousin activity and by the end, I just REALLY wanted to eat one! So I squeezed the last bit of frosting onto a cookie and it actually turned out really cool! (I can't figure out how to turn this picture…)

And then dad decorated his cookie… he wrote our names in Elvish!

Here are the cookies I made for our party though:

(just ignore the one with a bite out of it… I wasn't sure if she was coming or not and I ate her cookie before I remembered to take a picture!)

Here is dad just getting some practice in for having another kid on his lap

And here you are trying to make the moves on a cute boy.

Your first rejection. Sorry dear!

Remember when I was telling you all about cleaning out a bunch of our stuff? Well in 8th grade I took an art class and we had to find a picture in a magazine and then draw it free hand on a larger scale. I found a picture selling glass hummingbirds and for some reason it spoke to me! So here is a picture of the drawing, because it is ridiculous that I kept it for so long, in a box, where no one could see it!

The weather has been really nice and so we have been going on more walks! We walked to the park this particular day and you loved it!

Your hair!! I mean really. How do I get mine to do that and still look cute?

Dad even took you down the really big slide!

How many pictures can I take of you standing/sitting in your messy pile of books? Apparently not enough because seriously, it never gets old!

Here, you were climbing around on the couch and you kept falling back on the memory foam and then you'd lay there for a few minutes and then climb again!

Your brother Kalvin is so naughty. He LOVES sugar

Oh wait.

Thats me.

Well, one night, I was craving some Cold Stone. So dad, like the wonderful man that he is, allowed me to indulge the frequent craving and we went and got some ice cream. You are always getting free things because you are so cute. The worker gave you the biggest sample scoop of cotton candy ice cream. If you couldn't tell by your face below, you absolutely enjoyed it.

Those little teeth of yours just kill me.

We love your smile!!

So keep smiling for us!

Dear Kacie,

You have several people in your family that are great photographers so just be prepared for that!

These particular photos were taken by your Aunt Aub!

Calories Don't Matter

Dear Kacie,

After we got home from AZ, I had a rough time!

I found this post it note at Walmart one night and seriously, it describes how I felt pretty well cause chocolate, right?

This is the crown from Grandma Sandra… It's so cute on you!!

You really like to smell things. You found this foot scrub in the bathroom and you kept bringing it to me, letting me sniff it and then laughing.

We really enjoy waiting at the door for daddy to get home and you really like wearing your jacket!

One night we were at the store and you randomly grabbed onto each of our pant legs and then made us walk with you like this! It was so funny and you wouldn't let us go!

just getting cozy while watching TV! I just love all of your little positions that you get in!

I don't remember what I said to you but I think you were looking for something and this is your "where did it go?" stance. Plus, your outfit and hair were just to die for!

Mommy and daddy somehow managed to clog our sink so we had to call out the plumber… you were soooo excited! you stood right there by him the whole time and this particular moment you put your arms up and sighed like he was doing something wrong. It was hilarious. You were so intrigued!

Here is your first 'selfie'

You just love to get out all of your toys. The white box is one we don't get out as often as the others so when we took it out this particular day you squealed and got so happy!

Another picture of you watching TV… your eyes were glued!

You usually watch about 10 minutes of a show and then start wandering and playing with your toys. Someday we will start leaving the house again… but today, this pregnancy, we will just stay cozy and inside… which is a bummer because this winter has been great! No snow!!

Thanks for being the perfect baby and loving us, even when we are lazy!

Love,

mom and dad
