Crochet and Climbing!

Dear Kacie,

Sometimes you do toddler-like things. Like crashing on the floor every once in a while to take a breather. Then you get up and keep going.

You enjoy doing things like, climbing dangerously on your toys. Climbing dangerously on chairs. Climbing dangerously on the TV stand. Climbing dangerously on the coffee table. Climbing dangerously on the book shelf. Climbing dangerously on your diaper bag.

Get the point?

You've never really cared for cheese but I've been trying to give you things that you used to not like, to see if you like them now. So you will eat some string cheese but not all of it. I think you just like it cause I am eating it too.

You don't much wear headbands anymore, which is sad, but dad tried it out one day and then you had crazy hair! But you guys were matching, so of course, it was adorable!

When I was feeling pretty lame one day, we stopped by dads work. You had just wanted to run around all morning so I thought it would be perfect for you to run around with dad and I would lie down in the back of the car for a few minutes. Well, when you saw me laying down, you decided that I was cool, and you wanted to be like me!

Before conference started on Saturday we were cleaning and vacuuming. Dad put your chair on top of the coffee table and then you in your chair. Your hair was particularly crazy that day and you started giggling. You were soooo cute though!

Then your great grandpa Hanes came and took us out to dinner. We went to Tucanos and I had to use the restroom. I know it's weird to take pictures of toilets, but it's also weird to have chairs next to toilets… I still haven't thought of a good reason for this. Maybe someone could help me out?

Then Sunday morning, your dad made us delicious crepes! Seriously, they were amazing!

And I taught myself to crochet! My first attempt (the right) was pretty bad. The scarf kept getting smaller. So, I started over and it already looked a million times better! I am trying to make dad a scarf for his halloween costume...

For dinner, we went up the canyon and had a picnic!

You loved the huge field of grass to run around in. If you look close, you will find yourself buried in there somewhere!

Grandma and Grandpa Jarvis spent that weekend celebrating their anniversary. They went camping and saw these bear tracks! I thought it was pretty cool (and terrifying) that they were so fresh!

Thanks for letting us have so many laughs and adventures Kacie! You certainly make life a lot better for your dad and I!

Love,
Your Parents

Peek-a-boo, Elder Jarvis and Parsel Tongue

Dear Kacie,

September was kind of an exciting month… but not really too exciting!

Your Uncle Jerm was set apart as a missionary and this is the picture we got right after he was set apart. So he was officially a missionary!

That was exciting for us because it meant that the next morning, he was going to come stay with us for a few days!

I have been so sick that it was a huge help to have him here for a few days. And you both loved every second of it!

So one night, you got in the little space between your toys and books and played peek-a-boo with us for like a half hour. It was hilarious because we could totally see you, and you could see us, but you would still jump out and growl at us!

You had your 15 month check up and Uncle Jerm was my personal driver. It was awesome!

At the doctors office, we walked into the play area and you started going towards this space between the shelf and the wall and Uncle Jerm was like "Oh no!" And you started playing peek-a-boo again! Fortunately, it's adorable and made us laugh.

At your one year appointment, you had actually begun to shrink a little from your 9 month appointment. You were 17.8 lbs 28 in long and in the 15th and 17th percentiles!

You did have to get two shots, so we gave you a blue sucker. It's hard to tell in this picture but by the time we got home, your face was blue, your hands were blue and you were patting your knees, so they were blue! And you were just happy, and sticky!

The next day I had an appointment. That one was really exciting because we got two things:
1. We got to see your little sibling! They were bouncing around and waving to us! It was about 3cm long and just the cutest little thing! Unfortunately, the doctor told me I'm not as far as I thought I was. So he changed my due date to April 17th (instead of your grandma's birthday, April 8th).
2. I got medicine. I have mentioned it before, but I have been sooooo sick. It was great to see this baby, but man, was I happy about those meds!

Your Uncle Jerm was again, helpful. He stayed in the lobby with you while your dad and I went back.

On Wednesday, Uncle Jerm woke up with a knot in his tummy and feeling pretty anxious and nervous!

He had to wait all the way until 1:00 in the afternoon to go and it was a long wait!

We made him take some pictures before he went in and then we Skyped grandma Sandra and sent him on his way!

Oh, and he buckled you in every time we got in the car! He loves you a lot!

The next day, I parked myself in the recliner and didn't move for anything!

I also pulled your recliner in the room, turned on a movie and we watched together… for about 5 minutes. Then you got up and played.

But you loved it, you were smiling and giggling and so excited to be like mommy!

One day I could hear you talking and talking for several minutes down the hall. I went to see what you were doing and you were just sitting by our bedroom door reading an Applebees gift card.

Dad let's you wander around at church sometimes. You were climbing on the chairs and waving your finger around. At one point you sat in a chair for about 4 minutes talking, the whole time! Dad said you were teaching him the lesson for the day.

We laugh at how you eat, because you grab handfuls and shove your whole hand in your mouth.

I should have taken a picture, but one day I wore red pants and a gray striped shirt to match you! and then we went to play with Desiree and Gus.

You colored with crayons and actually liked it! Until you ate the crayon, gagged on it, put your whole hand in your mouth and threw up on Dez's carpet (sorry Dez!).

I think we will get you a coloring book soon though!

Then we went outside and you and Gus ran wild in the yard. It was adorable and hilarious. You and Gus always have a great time together!

We love this age, except for the not being able to communicate part! It makes you pretty frustrated and you find yourself crying on the ground a lot. But you can say "pweese," "watsat?" "wow" and your trying to say "datyou!" (please, whats that, wow and thank you), so we are making progress in the speaking area. (but not really). You are better at speaking parcel tongue so dad and I are trying to learn that language.

Dad's favorite thing is that when he goes into the bathroom, you run to the door crying, knock on the door and yell "daaaad! Daaad!" and it's awesome.

We love you so much!!!
